Combining horror and survival elements, publisher Daedelic Entertainment’s sci-fi submarine sim Barotrauma celebrates its third birthday with a new update, additional content and several new announcements. Since the title went into Early Access in 2019, there have been a total of two million Steam users who have played it and, with an average of 92 percent approval, positive feedback from the community. The anniversary update was already released on June 15th and should bring many improvements to the players.

In addition to the innovations such as the transfer of items between submarines when buying a new submarine, three new beacon stations, new difficulty settings for the campaign and additions to the modding refractor, many previous problems have also been eliminated, which can be viewed using the extensive changelog on Steam are. The main focus of the developers seems to have been on the criteria of balancing, performance, bug fixing and new content, since these are by far the largest in scope.
The highlights of the extensive update are 17 new or improved submarines, 69 new or improved missions, 43 new events, 33 new or improved monsters, 60 updates, patches and hotfixes and furthermore the successful processing of 8,852 support tickets. After almost three years in Early Access, the developers have now also announced at the same time that the final version of the game is almost completely finished and only a few functions such as game balance, factions in the campaign and tutorial improvements need to be implemented before the game can be released.
