According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), on July 17, local time,Four people were killed when two small planes collided at an airport in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to reports, the collision occurred around noon that day. Both aircraft were single-engine aircraft, models of Piper PA-46 and Cessna 172.

In a statement, the FAA said preliminary information indicated that the Piper PA-46 collided with the Cessna 172 as it prepared to land.

The Piper PA-46 crashed in a field east of the runway and the Cessna 172 fell into a cistern.Video on social media showed one of the planes bursting into flames after the crash.

The North Las Vegas Fire Department said two people on each of the two planes were killed; the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board have begun investigating the cause of the crash.
