IT House reported on June 19 that TSMC is further expanding its production in Taiwan, China, and rebuilt its production center in Tainan. 4 $10 billion facilities to make 3nm chips.
According to Nikkei Asia, after the completion of four new facilities in the Tainan City Industrial Park, TSMC, as part of TSMC’s production center, is starting the construction of another four fabs. Each construction project will reportedly cost TSMC about $10 billion (about 67.1 billion yuan), part of a $120 billion investment spree.
According to the report, all four new projects have production lines for 3nm chips, and products that can be produced in these factories in the future include Apple’s M and A series chips.
The four factories are just part of TSMC’s larger plan to build more facilities.At least 20 factories are under construction or recently completedwith a total construction area of more than 2 million square meters.
IT House has learned that TSMC has announced the roadmap for subsequent process development. The N3 process will be mass-produced in 2022, followed by N3E, N3P, N3X, etc., and the N2 process will be mass-produced in 2025.
