More and more browsers are starting to use features where the program automatically clears tracking information from links that the user clicks on. This means that even if the user clicks on a link that contains information that allows the user to be tracked, that information disappears and the user can become a little more anonymous to the advertisers’ frustration.

Now the publication Ghacks states that Facebook has started encrypting its links, which prevents browsers from being able to remove the tracking information from them. Thus, it is once again free for Facebook and advertisers to extract and use information about the user.

In theory, it may still be possible to remove the tracking information, but since that information is now merged and encrypted with other information, it means that other information also disappears. For example, it will no longer be possible to link to specific posts or information on other websites, but only to the website’s main address.
