Technical artist Simon Verstraete has programmed a tech demo in Unreal Engine 5 that shows in a visually stunning way what the Houdini tools are capable of in terms of graphics. A detailed developer video explains the so-called Project Titan in detail.

There have long been indications that Unreal Engine 5 could be the next big thing for the development of gaming graphics. Many (fan) projects have already shown how photorealistic game environments can look with the new engine. But now Technical Artist Simon Verstraete from SideFX has programmed a tech demo that lets Unreal Engine 5 shine again in all its glory.

Cyber-punk atmosphere with an unreal vibe

Verstraete’s project is called Project Titan and was created as a demo to test the procedural workflows of the Houdini tools. The programmer used tools in conjunction with Unreal Engine 5 and in combination with Kitbash3D’s geometry tools to create a futuristic, cyberpunk-esque urban environment. Verstraete presents the result in a detailed video in which he explains in detail how the project came about and the tools used:

Project Titan uses a variety of different tools in the Unreal Editor, which the developer presents in more detail on the demo website. The tools should allow programmers to create game levels faster while still retaining artistic control over their own ideas. If you want to get more familiar with the tools and the project as a whole, you can find these tutorial videos and explanations on the Project Titan website, which give an insight into the cooperation between Unreal Engine 5 and Houdini.
