Microsoft’s IE browser will end its service on June 15. According to reports, in order to commemorate the “retirement” of the IE browser, a software engineer in South Korea erected a tombstone for it, and added a special inscription, and the picture quickly went viral on the Internet.

Zheng Qiyong, a 38-year-old software engineer and web developer, erected a tombstone with the iconic “e” logo on the roof of a cafe run by his brother in Gyeongju, South Korea. On the left side of the IE name on the tombstone, there is a Chinese character “Gu”, and the tombstone also reads in English, “It is a good tool for downloading other browsers.”

According to the report, it took Zheng Qiyong a month to make this tombstone and cost 430,000 won (about 2,236 RMB). He did so to commemorate the end of his love-hate relationship with Internet Explorer.

As soon as the tombstone was displayed at the cafe, photos of it circulated online, the report said. Zheng Qiyong said that his approach showed his complicated feelings for IE, which had played a great role in his work and life.

Zheng Qiyong said that he wanted to use this tombstone to make people laugh, but he didn’t expect the joke to spread so widely on the Internet. “This is another reason why I am grateful for this browser.
