And gives a boot to Unity’s management on the way out.
In 2018, the fantastic little game was released Ghost of a Tale after a couple of years in early access. Behind the development was mainly Lionel Gallat, who had previously worked at Dreamworks and Universal Pictures, among others. The game received a pretty good reception and seems to have sold enough to motivate a sequel, even though we do not know much about it.
But something we now know is that Gallat and his studio SeithCG have chosen to abandon the game engine Unity – with which the first game was created – in favor of Unreal Engine 5. However, the choice does not seem to have been motivated by Unity boss John Riccitiello’s proposal, where he called game developers who do not prioritize revenue generation for “fucking idiots”.
Instead, the transition should have started several months ago, and Gallat says that it means that they are now well behind in the schedule. At the same time, he believes it was the right decision. He ends it all by wishing Unity good luck and hopes that they can benefit from better leadership in the future.
Below you see a trailer for the first game (which is very much worth playing even today).
