Lightyear is the movie about Buzz Lightyear that we know from the Top Story movies. It rolled out in theaters in June but does not seem to have had any further success. Now Disney instead wants us to see it at Disney + because the film will arrive there on August 3, in two weeks.

The Pixar film Lightyear is stopped in 14 countries

The film is considered too gay for some countries in Asia and the Middle East

The news agency Reuters states that Disney and Pixar’s upcoming big movie Lightyear will be stopped from showing in 14 countries. The reason why the film is stopped is said to be because there is a scene where two women kiss each other in the animated film. Countries that stop Lightyear include the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Malaysia and Lebanon. Chinese film authorities are said to have asked Pixar to cut off the scene with the kiss so that the film could possibly be shown in China. This is something that Pixar has refused to do and the company therefore assumes that the film will not be shown in China either. Lightyear’s producer tells Reuters: “Wex27re not going to cut out anything, especially something as important as the loving and inspirational relationship that shows Buzz what hex27s is missing by the choices that hex27s are making, so thatx27s not getting cut.” Lightyear goes to the cinemas now on Friday 17 June. You will find the latest trailer for the film above.
