The seaplane that crashed in Siljan on Monday has now been located at a depth of 26 meters. The German man in his 20s is still missing.

It is with the help of the Maritime Police’s sonar equipment that the fuselage was located. Diving will begin on Wednesday.

– You have to take this calmly and methodically, says Diana Qudhaib, spokesperson for the police, to TT.

Police believe that the missing young man is still in the wreckage. The other man on the plane, a German man in his 60s, was found dead in the water a few hours after the accident.

The alarm about the crash came at 4.15 pm on Monday when witnesses had seen the plane go down towards the water and then heard a loud bang. The pilots must have practiced takeoff and landing on the water with a twin-engine, US-registered amphibious aircraft, a 35-year-old Twin Bee, built to land on water.

– From a purely investigative point of view, there is not much to add. An investigation into causing another person’s death has been launched to gain access to all resources. A few parts of the plane were found, but it will be the Accident Investigation Board that will investigate the accident itself, says Diana Qudhaib.
