Last year, McMurtry exhibited his rather special electric car Spéirling at Goodwood. They even drove it up the track. This year, they have updated the car further and aim to break the record for the distance during the Festival of Speed. It is currently held by Volkswagen ID.R which Romain Dumas steered in 2019 and set the time of 41.18 seconds.
Festival Of Speed starts on Thursday, so after that we will find out if they succeeded.

Top Gear spans a McMurtry Spearling
The small electric Batmobile with 1000 horses
Spéirling is a small, completely electric creation from the British company McMurtry. It looks like a shrunken version of a future Batmobile, has 1000 horses and sounds like a crazy jet. Top Gear has scouted the cart to show us more about what it’s about. However, it seems to be serious and it will be interesting to see what happens to it in the future when it starts to be tested for real. Bonus clips below.
