Tuesday was the hottest day of the year so far in Germany, with temperatures reaching 39.5 degrees Celsius. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), this highest value was measured late Tuesday afternoon at the Duisburg-Baerl station, followed by Tönisvorst on the Lower Rhine near Krefeld with 39.2 degrees. Behind that was Hohenbostel in the town of Barsinghausen near Hanover at 39.1 degrees. Other readings were all below 39 degrees, the DWD reported.
