Today, Twelve South is updating one of its most popular iPad accessories to make it even more versatile. Originally released over a year ago, Twelve South’s new and improved HoverBar Duo comes with the same ergonomic iPad mounting features, only with a new QuickSwitch tab that makes it easy to switch between desktop and mountable form factors.

Twelve South HoverBar Duo updated with a more versatile design

Today, Twelve South is launching a gradual update to one of its latest iPad accessories in the form of the new and improved HoverBar Duo. About a year and a half after the original, there’s a new model with the same goal of letting you keep your iPad pretty much anywhere, but now it has a few extra tricks up its sleeve.

In terms of design, you’ll still find an articulating form factor that allows you to adjust the height and depth of your tablet. The adjustable grip can also hold various iPad models, including the powerful 12.9-inch iPad Pro, up to the latest iPad mini 6.

Now where things are actually starting to differ from its predecessor is that Twelve South has added a new feature in the form of a QuickSwitch tab to their HoverBar Duo. This makes switching between the two included base designs much easier than before. So for desktop use, when the iPad works as a SideCar companion for your Mac, etc., the standard weighted base can be snapped onto your arm. But if you want to bring it into the kitchen or anywhere else a hanging mount would come in handy, it’s as easy as clicking another mount. Both are also included in the package.

Another new adjustment to the second generation HoverBar Duo is that this time around, Twelve South offers an additional color scheme. The original version was only black, but now there is a white style that complements the wider range of designs of Apple’s stable version of iPadOS.

Now available for purchase directly from Twelve South, prices for the new version of the HoverBar Duo have not changed. As before, the accessory is priced at $79.99. So for those who want to take advantage of new features or design tweaks, you won’t have to shell out more than the first generation model. Although Twelve South will also continue to sell off the remaining stock of the previous iPad mount at a reduced price of $60, which offers a better price for those who don’t need the quick release feature.

The changes may not completely redefine the product, but should go a long way in improving the experience for those who really take advantage of the flexible form factor. The new version is by all accounts an improvement on the HoverBar Duo build, though whether it’s worth buying over the previous generation’s Twelve South accessory and its more affordable selling price is something we hope to find out in the near future. future practical review.
