Recently, two “Millennium Song Lotus” bloomed in Zhejiang University Museum of Art and Archaeology.
In June 2020, Zhejiang University Museum of Art and Archaeology received a special donation – two lotus seeds donated by Shi Chao, an associate researcher of Zhejiang Provincial Museum.
It is understood that this is a thousand-year-old lotus seed dug out of the Northern Song Dynasty stratum in Kaifeng, Henan in 2018. It was cultivated by Qian Ping, a lotus breeding expert in Hangzhou flower garden, and successfully bred the second generation of Songlian seeds. After careful cultivation by Zhejiang University Art Museum, Song Lian has recently bloomed two flowers, and three more flowers are about to bloom.
“The silt is not stained, the water is clear and the ripples are not demonic, the middle is straight and the outer is straight, no vines are not branches, the fragrance is far and clear, and the pavilions are clean and planted, which can be viewed from a distance but not profanity.” The author Zhou Dunyi is a writer of the Northern Song Dynasty .
The Art and Archaeology Museum of Zhejiang University said: This week, a theme exhibition combining Song paintings and ancient lotus flowers is going to be held in the museum. The general public can make an appointment on the official WeChat account before going to appreciate it. Recommended for public travel, parking is not very convenient.
