An Atlantic City police officer acquitted earlier this year on federal charges related to a K-9 attack in 2013 is suing the city for about $582,000 in back pay and attorney’s fees accumulated while suspended pending the outcome of the trial. Sterling Wheaten is seeking $382,497 in back pay and benefits, like health insurance and lost overtime, withheld from October 2018 after his indictment until March 22, when he was reinstated as a police officer.
