Just recently, Apple released the first public version of iOS 16. Many rushed to install it on their gadgets to personally test the cool feature of cutting out objects in photos, new splash screens, or other 65 new features.

However, one of the most pleasant innovations – the ability to enable tactile feedback when typing on the standard iPhone keyboard.

To the point: How to Install iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 Public Beta Right Now

Yes, despite the fact that the Taptic Engine has been around since 2015, all this time the tactile pleasant feedback worked only in a few smartphone usage scenarios, such as scrolling through a list or using Force Touch (remember that at all?).

And finally, in 2022, the developers made friends with a pleasant tactile feedback with the native iPhone keyboard. Truth, it is disabled by defaultbut now I’ll show you how to activate it in the settings in order to type texts and messages with pleasure.

How to Enable Haptic Feedback for the iPhone’s Native Keyboard

Go to “Settings“, then to “Sounds, tactile signals“. Scroll down the menu and click on “Keyboard response“. Activate the toggle switchTactile cuesto enable vibration when you press the buttons on your iPhone’s virtual keyboard.

Now the same in pictures:

That’s it, now try to start chatting and feel the tactile pleasure.

To everyone who uses the most up-to-date iOS 15 at the moment: you can install a third-party keyboard from Yandex or gboard and enable tactile feedback in these keyboards, replacing the standard one with them. Please note that when you replace the standard keyboard with third-party ones, everything you type on them may be transferred to the developers of these keyboards.

Here’s how to enable tactile feedback in third-party Gboard and Yandex keyboards.

Previously, I had only two options: either use the iPhone in silent mode and then pressing the virtual keyboard buttons had no response at all, or turn off the silent mode and then you could activate the sound with every touch of your finger.

And now, even in silent mode, every touch of your finger to the keyboard is accompanied by a pleasant vibration feedback, showing that you definitely hit the button. It’s very convenient, try it!

And if you are still considering whether or not to install the first public beta of iOS 16, then I inform you: it works stably, all applications open, there are no obvious system glitches, and the battery runs out no faster than usual. So feel free to try something new.

To the point: First impressions of iOS 16. What works and not, is it possible to install
