In honor of the 90th anniversary, LEGO presented a huge set of 4514 pieces. The LEGO 10305 Lion Knight’s Castle set will be available on August 8th and is the perfect continuation of the castle series. I immediately remembered my 1995, when on New Year’s Eve Santa Claus (thanks to my parents!) presented a huge box, and there was the Castle of the Royal Knights – article 6090, if anyone is looking for it.
On a large green plate, I gradually erected walls, built a drawbridge, settled a ghost glowing in the dark, and from a secret hatch of enemies who broke into the castle, I met a skeleton. I remember that the box showed several options for assembling the lock, but, unfortunately, five additional instructions were not included in the kit besides the main one. So it only remained to fantasize how to assemble a new design.
The castle was distinguished by an abundance of weapons, a working catapult, a secret staircase and a whole army of figurines. Three horses, nine warriors and two monsters, including a ghost and a skeleton.
The castle was my favorite set, rebuilding it according to the instructions was an exciting process – no less than tearing it down during the assault. Although by modern standards, it consisted of “only” 764 parts – not so big relative to the modern counterpart.

Moreover, if in 1995 my castle cost either $95 or $99 in the LEGO store in GUM, then they ask for a whole $399 for a new designer. They even added a label for the set – 18+, transparently hinting that this is a game for those who grew up playing or dreaming about their LEGO castle. And now he is ready to plunge into childhood and is ready to pay a decent amount for a pile of plastic parts.
The new set includes 22 figures, a water mill, secret passages and a very playable design. The castle unfolds if you want to see what’s going on inside. After all, there is a real medieval city where a water wheel works, a sorcerer lives, and a baker prepares delicious buns. Even an ox with a cart appeared.
And you can, on the contrary, build fortress walls in a row. In this regard, the new model is definitely more convenient than the old one, where it was not so comfortable to command LEGO men in a cramped space.
Moreover, the same castle from 1995 has grown in price: assembled designers at Avito cost from 20,000 rubles, and in a state close to ideal, and all 30,000. So you can consider it as an investment for the future, especially if you do not open the box . At auctions, for example, the new LEGO 6090 is asking for more than $2,000.
As an addition to the beautiful castle, you can also get the new LEGO 40567 Forest Hideout Forest Hideout, which is a reimagining of a similar set from 1988.
The new set will be given out as a gift with purchases in LEGO stores in the amount of 150 euros from 15 to 30 June. If you do not fall under the seasonal offer, you can buy it for $25. In general, it is strange that the action does not coincide with the start of sales of the new castle, it would be a nice bonus for buyers.
