Sudden jump ruble exchange rate, which happened at the very end of February, provoked many to rash and rather expensive purchases. Surely one of your friends or even you yourself, in order to save money, bought something for yourself that you just wouldn’t have decided on just like that. Your obedient servant, by the way, did just that, acquiring an iPad Air for himself, giving more than 53 thousand rubles for it. No one could have thought that after only 3 months prices for Apple equipment in Russia will fall even lower than they were as of February 24th. True, this is far from the limit, because with the current exchange rate, iPhones, iPads, Macbooks and other devices of the apple brand should become even cheaper.

At the current ruble exchange rate, prices for Apple equipment in Russia should be significantly lower

In order not to provoke unnecessary conflicts in the comments, I propose to immediately dot the i’s. The numbers you’ll see below have nothing to do with Apple or suggested retail prices. Therefore, it makes no sense to dispute them. They are calculated by the author based on the current exchange rate against the ruble, taking into account the current tax rate in Russia.

Prices for Apple equipment in Europe

67 thousand rubles – exactly how much the 128 GB iPhone 13 Pro should have cost in Russia

As you probably know Russian prices for Apple equipment in relation to most goods, they are quite close to German ones. There, as well as here, the value added tax, which is 19%, is already included in the price. In Russia it is 1% higher, however, I think this difference can be neglected. Therefore, at a rate of 85 rubles per euro iPhone 13 Pro cost 1149 euros was estimated at 97-99 thousand rubles, depending on the store.

Prices for the rest Apple devicesthat are of interest to us as consumers in Germany today are as follows:

  • iPhone 13 mini 128 GB – 799 euros
  • iPhone 13 128 GB – 899 euros

Today euro exchange rate sank heavily, the ruble strengthened like never before, and prices went down. True, due to the stop of direct imports and restrictions on foreign exchange transactions introduced by the Central Bank, retailers decided to get rid of the exchange rate when pricing, and began to draw them based on a number of factors known only to them. However, if we take the current Apple technology prices in Germany right now and recalculate them in rubles, we will get prices that could have been valid in Russia if the status quo had not changed on February 24.

By itself, conversion of euro prices into rubles would not give such beautiful figures. Therefore, I allowed myself to slightly correct them in the current marketing style of the Russian market, rounding them off so that at the end it turns out 990. Somewhere for this, the price had to be slightly increased, and somewhere a little underestimated, but in most cases these assumptions do not exceed 600- 700 rubles one way or another.

Is it worth waiting for such prices? Well, definitely not in official retail. As you probably already know, large retail chains have gradually begun to resume supplies of Apple equipment, however, they do it according to the parallel import model. About what it is and how it affects pricesyou can read in this article. Here I will say that the money that we are asked for parallel imported iPhones is absolutely disproportionate to the current dollar and euro exchange ratenot even common sense. Indeed, for the most part, the prices for such devices are 30-40% higher than they were before February 24.

Prices for Apple equipment in Russia

Many serovos sell Apple equipment in Russia even cheaper than they could

But in gray retail, we can already observe a structural shift. Vendors who carry iPhones from abroad individually in suitcases and have the opportunity refund tax value-added under the Tax Free program, are more flexible in terms of pricing. That’s why gray iPhones often cost even less than you might think. Here are just a few examples:

As you can see prices for many positions in gray retail are quite profitable. The only exceptions are computers and tablets, which are now in short supply. Apple is facing a shortage of components, which is why both Macbooks and iPads are quite difficult to get even in the US, not to mention all other countries. However, I personally see no reason to raise prices for all other goods, allowing even a slow decline as devaluation of the dollar.
