With some changes to the Sonic Frontiers Steam page, we may know when the new Sonic spin-off is due to release. The title is still displayed on Steam with a release period of “Holiday 2022”, but loudly SteamDB the release date was pushed to November 8, 2022 just yesterday. Additionally, Sonic Frontier’s Steam achievements and controller support have been added, as well as Denuvo copy protection. Interestingly, it was removed a few hours ago, and the release date has also been moved to December 3, 2022.
Possible release date for Sonic Frontiers announced
December 3, 2022 is a Saturday, unlike November 8, which falls on a Tuesday this year. So it’s quite possible that the developers just want to lure resourceful players on the wrong track with the new date. Also, recent Sonic titles such as Sonic Forces, Sonic Lost World, and Sonic Generations were all released in November.
Ideally, Sega would like to release their new 3D Sonics before Christmas, so November 8th as the release date for Sonic Frontiers would definitely make sense. However, if the date actually proves true, Sonic will have to compete with God of War Ragnarök, which will be released just a day later. Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones will also be released on the same day, and just ten days later the new Pokemon offshoots will celebrate their release.
November is packed with fan-anticipated games. Since Sonic Frontiers has not yet been able to convince many players, the blue hedgehog will probably have a hard time competing with the other names. An official announcement should definitely not be long in coming.
