In order to better sell passenger cars and provide related services in Japan,BYD established BYD Auto Japan Co., Ltd. on July 4. BYD said that ATTO 3 is expected to be launched in January 2023, Dolphin is expected to be launched in mid-2023, and SEAL is expected to be launched in the second half of 2023. Among them, the Dolphin is BYD’s most competitive and technical model.Expected to compete with Tesla Model in Japanese market.
The product pictures released by BYD in Japan are also very interesting. Among them, only ATTO 3 provides a right-hand-drive interior picture, which is estimated to be related to the car’s sale in the Australian market. The left-hand drive model is still used, and a right-hand drive version will obviously be launched in the future.
Previously, BYD has achieved great success in the Japanese electric bus market. On July 13, BYD Japan executive vice president Hanada Shinsaku said that with the Japanese government’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the local awareness of electric vehicles has increased, and the company is expected to sell 4,000 electric buses in Japan around 2028.
It is worth mentioning that BYD currently has a market share of about 70% in the Japanese electric bus market, and it is expected that even if other competitors join, the group will still maintain a market share of 30% to 40% by 2030.
IT House learned that the BYD Dolphin was launched on August 29 last year, equipped with the new BYD e-platform 3.0, and the price after comprehensive subsidies starts at 93,800 yuan.
The BYD Seal was launched on July 18, with a zero-to-zero acceleration of 3.8 seconds. It offers three models with a cruising range of 700km. The pre-sale price of the car starts at 212,800 yuan after domestic subsidies.
