Aliexpress, the European counterpart of the Chinese giant Alibaba, wants to compete a little more with Amazon in the West. To do this, the sales platform has invested heavily in order to install storage warehouses in Europe, and set up an after-sales service and return system in France for a selection of products.
But to go further, the brand is also relying on its collection service installed in France since 2021 in the main cities of the country. This network is now expanding to more than 36,000 collection points.
This involves offering users standard or automated pick-up points, lockers in which orders are stored: the user then only has to go to these large red cabinets to identify themselves and collect their packages, like Amazon Lockers.
In just over a year, Aliexpress has invested in installing 36,000 of these collection points in Europe, whether through a partnership with a business that stores orders, or automatic lockers.
In France, there are no less than 15,9802 Aliexpress collection points. According to Aliexpress, the use of the collection service has tripled in France over the year, with users interested in being able to pick up their parcels whenever they want. Another advantage of the system is that delivery to a collection point is generally faster than home delivery.
Aliexpress now hopes to have more than 47,500 collection points in Europe by the end of the year. To do this, the brand will try to strengthen its partnerships with the Relais COlis and Mondial Relay networks in France.
Another axis of progress concerning the logistics of the brand: to highlight the combined delivery. Aliexpress has thus set up grouping warehouses in China which allow orders to be combined from different shops to be combined in a single shipment. This allows, for example, to benefit from delivery in 10 days by combining several orders, while certain products (the smallest) are generally only offered in slow delivery within 30 days.
