European Games Half-Year Charts 2022: “Pokémon Legends: Arceus” is unstoppable!
What were the most successful video games in Europe in the first six months of 2022? The official half-year charts from GfK Entertainment provide the answer. As the representative sales data show, there was no way around Pokémon legends: Arceus for games fans from Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels & Co.
The action RPG, released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, was not only the most popular title on the continent overall, but also topped the six-month hit list in eleven of the 19 countries surveyed – namely in Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain and the Netherlands , Norway, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland and Spain.
As the second most successful game in the period from January to June, the open world hit Horizon Forbidden West took first place in the Czech Republic and top 3 positions in eight other regions. The bronze medal in the European half-year charts goes to the long-running hit FIFA 22, which also climbs the throne of the Danish, Polish, Slovakian and Hungarian hit lists. Also popular were the RPGs Elden Ring (#1 in Finland and Sweden) and Cyberpunk 2077 (#1 in Russia).
A look at the separately determined German games half-year charts shows how the top sellers are distributed among the individual consoles. While Pokémon Legends: Arceus is in demand in the Switch ranking, Horizon Forbidden West prevails in the PS5 and PS4 charts.
Elden Ring (Xbox Series) and FIFA 22 (Xbox One) score on Microsoft platforms, Farming Simulator 22 on PC. The best-selling 3DS production is Pokémon Ultra Sun.
