GTA 5 is full of curiosities, many of which you’ll encounter as you play, but some require a little detective work. Even though GTA 5 is a rather old game and an extremely popular one at that, some fans are still digging up a secret or two even after nine years.
GTA 5: A mission with flying trucks?
What? Don’t you remember the flying trucks? Don’t worry, you are not victims of the Mandela Effect and have collectively forgotten that there are GTA 5 trucks taking to the skies. Even if everything works as smoothly as possible in a video game in the foreground, the most absurd things happen in the background. Same with the mission “Father and son” in GTA 5.
The two trucks have to only be made visible, which of course is not intended for normal play. A GTA fan shared his unusual find via Twitter and later posted a better quality YouTube video:
The two trucks are basically the cameras, which show you the different perspectives of the chase when you use the “Cinematic Camera”. As if the trucks aren’t weird enough as a camera, according to the discoverer, who calls himself Lucas on Twitter, the only mission to be where the truck cams are used.
More quirky things to do in Los Santos:
But why trucks?
It is still unclear why these chunky steel colossuses have to be used as cameras not clearly clarified. Possibly the trucks are used because the model is already loaded for the mission as the trailer with the yacht is pulled by one. That might save some work on the hardware. Lucas suspects it’s with the Playback speed of the additional camera perspectives related. According to him, the regular camera animation in this mission can’t afford to slow down and speed up the game. Lucas doesn’t understand why the developers then decided on the trucks. It often takes years for fans to find out the latest secrets, or for developers to share their funniest anecdotes. Like the story of the “Baguette Boy” from BioShock Infinite:
