WoW Dragonflight: Taliesin & Evitel interviewed by Morgan Day
- An important part of the goal behind the dragon riding was to make the journey itself fun and engaging, rather than making it a chore to be completed as quickly as possible.
- The advancement of dragon riding involves some really fun skills. An example of this is the Bronze Dragon Flight ability, which allows you to travel back through time to a starting point.
- Dragon riding leveling will likely be the same for everyone, with additional options and choices at max level.
- Morgan Day is unaware of any current plans for us to name our dragons, but he really likes the idea. If that’s what people want, now is the time to let them know.
- They’re still very keen on the twink-friendly philosophy they introduced towards the end of Shadowlands. Unlocking the Dragon Ride mount aesthetic customization will be account-wide. The developers are still debating the progression of riding the dragon itself.
- Extended view range will be rolled out on the Dragon Isles for now, but they hope to update older zones in the future as well.
- The niche from Caller of the Dracthyr in groups will be heavily focused on burst damage or healing and will provide group support.
- There will be two dungeons in the Azure Mountains. Brackenfur Cavern is a dungeon that follows the gnoll theme. The Azure Vaults is a max level dungeon related to the Blue Dragonflight and Kalecgos’ main story in the zone.
- As for the spoilers, 9.2.5 introduced surprises like quest lines and some character customization. The developers will dive into secrets more often, but mostly for endgame content. They’re unlikely to hide too much when it comes to higher tier content.
- An important philosophy is that instead of feeling like you have to log in every day, you have a wide range of options when you log in.
- Each zone has a large outside faction that offers unique rewards. An example of this is the Tuskarr in the Azure Mountains. They also want to increase the visibility of the rewards so players know exactly what they are working towards.
- This Alpha will function differently than previous Alphas. Similar to raid testing, different areas and systems are introduced in waves and then removed again when testers are asked to focus on the next thing.
- The professions should stand on their own and be on par with other endgame content like raids or Mythic+.
- The release is still planned for 2022.
