September is approaching – the month in which we will receive the release versions of iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura. The assemblies will already be honed and adjusted, the main glitches will be fixed, and the necessary functions will be added. However, you can still try iOS/iPadOS 16 today. Here’s how to do it without damaging your data.

Previously, we talked about all the innovations in Safari and in interim beta versions. Now it’s Siri’s turn – the proprietary voice assistant has also changed a bit.

Dictation

Siri

  • Emoji. In iOS 16, you can dictate any emoji to Siri by telling her the word “emoji” and then its name. This can be done when replying to messages, or in general in any texts that you dictate. If you want to insert multiple emoji in a row, be sure to say the word “emoji” before each new icon so that Siri doesn’t get confused.
  • Automatic sending. Previously, after you dictated a message to Siri, you had to listen to it again and explicitly agree to send it. Now Apple has given a choice – you can turn off this check and the voice assistant will send a message as soon as the dictation is over. No questions asked.
  • Automatic punctuation. Until now, you have had to use your voice to place punctuation marks when dictating a message or text. Siri will now try to add commas, periods, and question marks where it sees fit. It does not work perfectly, but for most users it will fit quite well – not everyone knows how to correctly punctuate even manually, and this is not required in everyday correspondence.
  • Fast switching. Now you can quickly move from dictation to the keyboard and back. In addition, you can tap on a specific word and correct it by dictation. There is always a special cursor in the input field, by clicking on which you can quickly complete voice recognition.

Work in the system

Siri

  • Quick commands. Now Siri has learned to immediately work with new “commands” after they are loaded into the application. It no longer needs to be configured each time to activate and use them.
  • Ending a call. A short but necessary update: Siri can now be asked to “hang up” if you’re on a speakerphone or Bluetooth accessory.
  • Siri Help. Apple’s voice assistant has been on our iPhones since the 4s, and many still don’t know most of the commands for it. The iOS 16 update aims to correct this misunderstanding: now you can ask Siri “What can I do here?” While in any application. Siri will display a list of basic commands that are supported at that point in the system.

And if you already understood everything about iOS 16 and want to roll back, here is a detailed guide for this case.
