Uber today announced that its Pool feature is returning to select U.S. cities with cheaper rides and a new name, UberX Share. Two years after the company suspended ride sharing, it has now been announced what the new car sharing feature will look like.

According to Uber News, the UberX Share feature will be available in cities across the US. Here are the first who succeeded:

New York; Los Angeles; Chicago; San Francisco; Phoenix; San Diego; Portland; Indianapolis; Pittsburgh.

More U.S. cities will get Uber Pool again this summer. Along with cities, the company announced what has changed in this feature, highlighting three different points:

Share the ride, save: Riders will receive an upfront discount if they choose UberX Share and will receive up to 20% off the total fare if they are paired with a fellow traveler along the way; Stay on schedule: To ensure pick-ups and drop-offs do not cause unexpected delays, Uber Pool will only pick up passengers traveling in the same direction. The company designed UberX Share in such a way that passengers arrive no more than 8 minutes later than the UberX trip; Make Smarter Choices: By helping you find more people faster in fewer cars, Uber can help reduce gas consumption, mileage and emissions per passenger, and make transportation more affordable.

As Uber Pool returns, despite COVID-19 cases going back and forth around the world, the company says affordability is “important to make transportation more accessible to more people, especially in the current economic climate.” Uber also says that “product pairing has long been a rider favorite, from spontaneous chanting to meeting new friends and other fun chance encounters.”
