Definitely, the last tax report of Ubisoft reveals things to us. After discovering that the game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will not be released until 2023 or 2024, we learn that the battle royale free to play Ghost Recon Frontline and Splinter Cell VR are simply cancelled.

Ghost Recon Frontline was announced at the end of 2021, then the studio postponed the dates for access to the game’s closed test phase following player feedback. The latter were far, very far from being satisfied by the announcement of this title which was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise.

Regarding Splinter Cell VR, the game was announced in September 2020 but did not provide more information than that, other than that it was to be AAA and was supposed to offer multiplayer.

Considering the resounding success that the last free-to-play of Ubisoft (Hyper Scape) was, this choice concerning Ghost Recon Frontline is perhaps not worse. After all, a wise man once said, “Scalded cat sucks at generic, soulless FPS.”
As for Splinter Cell VR, it’s perhaps a bit more of a shame. If it had been a good title, it would have been a great experience in the world of VR, which is not yet extremely rich in memorable games. But maybe they were just too scared to move on after The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and Half-Life: Alyx.
