Is Blizzard Entertainment preparing for the “Diablo 4” beta phase? After relevant information was discovered on Battle.net, the company issued a denial.

Blizzard Entertainment will host a beta prior to the launch of Diablo 4. And just before the weekend it looked like the test phase was getting close. This was indicated by files in the Battle.net launcher.

This included configuration files and also an installation window intended for the beta of “Diablo 4” that could be extracted. As such, it was briefly considered likely that Blizzard would lay the groundwork for the release of the beta later this year.

Rod Fergusson speaks up

The disillusionment, however, took place on Twitter. Rod Fergusson, who is leading the development of the “Diablo” franchise, pointed out in a short tweet that the discovered data is part of an internal test and does not indicate a public beta start anytime soon.

“I’m excited about all the energy and excitement about the Diablo 4 beta that has been showing up on Battle.net. But you should know that this is an internal test. Sorry!”, so Fergusson.

Nevertheless, sooner or later there will be a beta or public test for “Diablo 4”. Fergusson could not or did not want to reveal an exact period at first. He just emphasized, “We will be doing more public testing in the future as we continue on the path to release in 2023!”

There is no final release date for the finished game either. One thing is certain: “Diablo 4” should be launched in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One and PC. Confirmed features include crossplay, so players don’t have to keep to themselves on each platform.
