In this test, AR-500BJ successfully completed the flight courses such as ship take-off and landing, marking a new important breakthrough in the development of this type of unmanned helicopter, and it is the direction of the “Xuange”-500 series of light and small unmanned helicopter systems. The deep sea has solidified the technical foundation.

IT House learned that the Aviation Industry Helicopter Institute and relevant units applied for the national key research and development plan project in 2017. In 2018, the AR-500BJ carrier-based unmanned helicopter was developed and approved, and the ground-based first flight was completed in November 2020.

The successful completion of the ship-borne flight test also marks the successful completion of the key special subject tasks of the national key research and development plan.

According to public information, the AR-500BJ carrier-based unmanned helicopter is a 500kg-class carrier-based unmanned helicopter independently developed by the Aviation Industry Helicopter Institute, which fills the gap in China in the field of light and small carrier-based unmanned helicopters.

Aviation Industry Helicopter said that in order to overcome the unfavorable factors such as small parking space, harsh working environment and complex electromagnetic environment of ship-borne unmanned helicopters, this type of aircraft was replaced with a domestic heavy oil engine, which has a great impact on fuel, structure, electrical, The flight control and other systems have been adapted and modified, breaking through a number of key technologies such as small electric landing aids, landing guidance systems, ship surface environmental adaptability, and automatic landing control laws. With the characteristics of heavy load, high wind resistance and modular task load, it can be widely used in various shipboard scenarios.
