Japan’s JDI company recently announced that they have successfully developed a new transparent LCD display Rælclear, 20..8 inches in size, also supports 120Hz high refresh rate, but the resolution is only 1280×720 level.
Unlike conventional LCD panels, transparent panels do not require backlights or polarizers. When not displayed, they are transparent. They have a glass-like texture and are more compelling, making them suitable for high-end players or commercial displays. The development cost is high and there is no mass production.
JDI crowdfunded a 12.3-inch transparent display online last year, and the Rælclear developed this time has increased the size to 20.8 inches.The resolution is 1280×720, supports 4096 colors, the refresh rate is doubled to 120Hz, and the brightness is increased to 300cd/mm2.Although the resolution does not look high, it can already meet the needs of industries such as medical examinations.
According to JDI, the light transmittance of the Rælclear display reaches 90%, which is almost like glass.
