If a title has an online component, then the existence of bots in the virtual world is virtually inevitable. Things get worse when the in-game economy allows you to send gold or similar to other players. On various sites you can use this to buy in-game items for real money, which is referred to as “RMT”. Boosting services and the like are also often taken over by bots.
Diablo Immortal seems to have a big problem with bots
For example, Smilegate’s MMORPG Lost Ark suffers from a serious bot problem, which is why Amazon Games repeatedly carries out huge waves of bans, causing the number of players in the MMO to fall by up to 600,000 “players”. Blizzard’s new game Diablo Immortal also has quite a problem with bots, as can be read on the Reddit social media platform, among others.
The action RPG has been available for a few weeks now and Clips from botsgrazing popular loot spots are now a fixture Feature on Reddit. In addition to the very bot-typical names, these characters often simply attack into nothing if there is no opponent in front of them. The in-game chat is also said to be flooded with advertising about boosting services and the like, which has unfortunately become pretty much the norm in many games.
Blizzard has not yet officially commented on the bot situation, but at least in Diablo 2: Resurrected it will probably happen again and again Ban waves performedto get a little grip on the problem. Last we learned that the release of Diablo Immortal (buy now ) in China has been delayed indefinitely, and Blizzard recently promised that Diablo 4 will be very different from Immortal.
