This is strongly inspired by the Raspberry Pi 400: the Raspberry Foundation computer that installs directly into a keyboard.
The AbacusBasic takes up the concept both in terms of format and price offer even if it is displayed at a price twice as high.
Pentaforme, the startup behind the project wants to offer a complete PC in a keyboard, at a price that remains very affordable and that would transform any screen into a workstation or entertainment. The advantage of the keyboard being that you can easily carry the PC with you.
Internally, the configuration remains modest with an Intel Atom X5-Z8350 base at 1.44 GHz associated with 2, 4 or 8 GB of RAM depending on the configuration. There is also a 16 GB eMMC SSD which can scale up to 128 GB. Everything operates under Windows 10 and includes Bluetooth, WiFi but also HDMI and USB connections.
Another advantage, all the hardware is found in a box clipped to the left of the keyboard. We can thus uncouple the whole thing to bring the PC part closer to the screen and use the wireless keyboard from the comfort of his sofa, for example.
Note also that the right part of the keyboard offers a huge trackpad that will not have to use a mouse.
The price of the AbacusBasic is announced at 120 pounds sterling, it is certainly twice as expensive as a Pi 400 but the technical sheet is still a notch above.
