Yesterday, Baidu presented a new version of its latest autonomous car and has now released a video showing the Apollo RT6 a little closer.
The Apollo RT6 is a self-driving car in the Level 4 category (L4), the second highest category for autonomous cars. L4 means that the car is still equipped with a steering wheel and other controls but has the capacity to get around on its own in pretty much any condition. As can be seen in the picture above, the steering wheel can also be removed completely when the user considers that it is not needed.
Baidu states that the price for the Apollo RT6 will land at 250,000 Chinese yuan, corresponding to approximately 380,000 Swedish kronor. Baidu plans to start using the Apollo RT6 in its own taxi service Apollo Go in 2023. When the car will start to be sold to others has not yet been announced.
Below is the video where the Apollo RT6 is shown in a little more detail.
