Want to know if your Mac supports macOS Ventura? If you’re interested in checking out the next generation version of macOS 13, you should definitely check out the list of compatible Macs.
You’ll find that the list of Macs that are compatible with macOS Ventura (MacOS 13) is much stricter than previous versions of the Macintosh operating system, so if you’re thinking about launching betas or even the final version when it’s available this fall, you I want to check if your equipment is distributed in the first place.
macOS Ventura Supported Macs List
The list of Macs supported by macOS Ventura is a little more strict, excluding support for any Mac over 5 years old.
- iMac (2017 and up)
- MacBook Pro (2017 and up)
- MacBook Air (2018 and up)
- MacBook (2017 and up)
- Mac Pro (2019 and up)
- iMac Pro
As you can see, any Mac released before 2017 is not redistributable, so it will be stuck with either Monterey, Big Sur, or an earlier version of the system software.
This hardware list is taken directly from the Apple website.
It’s not entirely clear why the system requirements for Macs are so much more stringent, given that macOS Ventura doesn’t have any significant new features that require extensive hardware usage to support it, but perhaps more clarity will come to light over time.
Apple has announced that macOS Ventura will be available in the fall, and beta versions are currently available for those participating in macOS beta testing programs.
