Apple today released the second developer beta of macOS 13 Ventura, the Mac operating system due to go official this fall. The second beta came out two weeks after Apple unveiled the update at WWDC and released the first developer beta.
Registered developers can download the beta from the Apple Developer Center, and once the appropriate profile is installed, the beta will be available in Settings under Software Updates.
macOS Ventura has a new Stage Manager feature that allows Mac users to focus on a task while keeping other apps nearby for easy switching between tasks. The update adds the Continuity Camera feature, which lets you use your iPhone as a webcam for your Mac. It supports Central Stage, desktop sharing, and Studio Light of the iPhone’s portrait mode camera.
Handoff is now available for FaceTime, so you can switch calls between iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and Messages lets you mark iMessages as unread and unsend. SharePlay now also works in the Messages app.
The Mail app supports delayed sending and undoing sent messages within 10 seconds of sending them. The Weather and Clock apps are now available on Mac. System Preferences has been renamed and given an updated iOS-like design.
Safari supports shared tab groups, and Apple is also working on Passkeys technology, which replaces traditional password entry with Touch ID authentication. Updated and Spotlight, shared media library, as well as Metal 3 is now included in macOS Ventura to improve the graphics in games.
