Since the end of last year, many customers of the LCL bank have highlighted strange transfers of money observed on their account. Transfers whose amounts range from 1,000 to 30,000 euros and which thus leave in nature without explanation.
The customers approached the LCL, which initially indicated that they had not been hacked, but that they had been negligent in communicating their login information to their online space.
Nevertheless, faced with the multiplication of cases and a loot that is now estimated at more than 300,000 euros, ethical hackers have looked into the question. It could thus be that hackers have exploited a flaw in the LCL banking application to read customer information and access certain key information, thus unlocking their access to accounts.
Nothing is currently certain and an investigation is underway to determine if the victims were the subject of a phishing campaign or if it was indeed the bank’s application that was hacked. In the first case, the bank could waive any reimbursement to its customers.
