Not every experienced user will be able to recall the whole path to information about passwordsthat are stored in your account. But it seems that Google has heard those who often access their data, and offered an option that will significantly shorten the path.

Google Password Manager

Creating a shortcut is hidden in the depths of the settings, but having done it once more, you can not return to them.

At the moment, to view all saved passwords on your Android device, you need to follow a non-trivial path (for example, MIUI 13):

  • Open Settings.
  • Go to the Google section.
  • Go to Autocomplete.
  • Select Autofill by Google.
  • Open the “Passwords” section.

Only after that will appear before your eyes password manager. Let’s face it, the path is not close, and if you are in a hurry, you can lose precious time on it. According to the law of the genre, it is at such moments that the smartphone begins to slow down. The problem is that the password manager built into the system does not have its own application. That is why it is sewn so deep into the account settings.

Fortunately, Google realized that such a simple task requires quite a lot of unnecessary steps. Beginning with Google Play Services updates On 22.18, it became possible to create a shortcut to the password manager on the desktop.

To create a desktop icon you need:

  • Download update Google Play Services to at least version 22.18.
  • Open “Settings”.
  • Go to the “Google” section.
  • Go to Autocomplete.
  • Select Autofill by Google.
  • Open the “Passwords” section.
  • In the upper right corner, click on the gear to go to the settings.
  • Click on the “Add shortcut to home screen” button.

After completing all the steps, you can exit to the last desktop. The shortcut icon will appear there.

Password Manager – Android

If Google fixes all the shortcomings, then it will have another great application.

Unfortunately, this method also has disadvantages. The main one is that the shortcut cannot be removed from the application menu. That is, if you want to use it, you must keep it on your desktop. In a situation where you have already clearly allocated space on it, it can be very difficult to place another extra icon. But if you really go into it often, then it would be better to donate some application.

Another disadvantage should be noted that when switching to password manager the system does not ask for any confirmation that the user who performs this action is really you. No matter how you try to get into the dispatcher, you will not need to confirm your identity.

Yes, if you try to see any passwords inside it, you will have to use fingerprint or enter a code. In some situations, the list of resources on which you are registered will be enough for attackers to commit any fraudulent actions.

Let’s hope that Google still starts to develop password manager as a separate application built into the system and will try to more securely protect the data it stores. And we, in turn, do not have to look for ways to get into it without making extra clicks.
