In two months, Apple will introduce three new Apple Watches, including the rumored Apple Watch Pro. This new high-end model, also called “protected” and designed for “extreme sports”, will be the company’s new bet for a specific customer niche.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman went into detail about this new product.
already reported that this Apple Watch Pro will have a larger display, longer battery life and a new body temperature sensor. Gurman believes the watch can last several days on just one charger, thanks to a rumored low-power mode that Apple hasn’t discussed so far.
What’s interesting here is that a Bloomberg journalist says that Apple will introduce “an evolution of the current rectangular shape rather than a round one,” which means this Apple Watch Pro will have its first fresh look since 2018, but it won’t have flat sides. what some predicted for the Apple Watch Series 7.
“I was told that the high-end model would be slightly larger than the standard Apple Watch – big enough that only a small number of customers would like it. The screen will be about 7% larger, and the appearance of the device will be fresh – the company introduced a new design for Apple Watch for the first time since 2018. It will be an evolution of the current rectangular shape rather than round. It also won’t have those flat sides that are rumored (for those who will no doubt ask). In terms of materials, the watch will have a stronger titanium formula to make it more durable.”
As I wrote before, watchOS 9 is sure to tease this Apple Watch Pro for extreme sports. With the updated Workout app, this operating system provides more data than ever, as well as a fresh look at old watch faces that haven’t been updated to take advantage of larger displays.
Blood pressure and glucose measurements are still delayed for Apple Watch
While the body temperature sensor will most likely be available on the Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Pro, Mark Gurman says nothing has changed for the other sensors.
He reports that “blood pressure technology is likely not available until 2025” and “glucose monitoring may not be ready until the end of the decade.”
That being said, it will likely be difficult for Apple to introduce new features as it has been two years since the addition of the new sensor and the company is rumored to be using the same Apple Watch Series 6 chip in the new Apple Watch Series 8.
