Xiaomi continues to update smartphones of previous years to MIUI 13 at an accelerated pace, because a few days ago, Redmi Note 9 received the current version of the system based on Android 12.
And just like a year ago, right at the end of the distribution of updates, information about the next version of MIUI becomes available.
This time, a mention of system version number 14 was found in the code of the “SimTools” application (from the MIUI test version), and some users suggested that the presentation of MIUI 14 will take place in August, along with “Xiaomi 13” and Xiaomi 13 Pro.
“nuwa” and “fuxi” codenames for new smartphones
Unfortunately, I have to dispel this myth, because the number 14 (in this case) does not mean the version of the system, but the version of its code (for example, MIUI 12.5 had code version 11), so the presentation of the new version will take place no earlier than November and the system as such (in in the usual sense) does not yet exist.
MIUI 14 innovations
For the third year in a row, the main focus will be on optimization and it must be admitted that compared to MIUI 12, Xiaomi has done a lot of work on improving performance and stability.
Visual changes will affect every system application, but users will not see a global redesign. Widget support will be added to the global version of the system, and MIUI users with “ID” and “IN” suffixes will get a new menu with categories and several clock, weather and activity widget options.
The “Security” application will be redesigned, or rather the section responsible for protecting the user.
The ability to turn off notifications directly from the curtain has been added, and on global firmware, the one-handed smartphone control mode announced a year ago will appear.
Xiaomi will add several “Super Wallpaper” options that will be available for flagship devices. This is evidenced by the inscription, which can already be seen in the “Themes” application.
By the way, as soon as new design options are added, I will issue a separate instruction on how to install them on any smartphone running MIUI 12.5 (Enhanced Edition) and MIUI 13.
And the last of the currently known changes will be the processing, or rather the refinement, of pop-up notifications, which currently do not work as well as we would like.
Which smartphones will not receive the update
All models of the “Redmi 9” and “Redmi Note 9” series will remain behind MIUI 14, one of the best-selling smartphones of the brand is “Poco X3 NFC”, all models of the “Redmi 10X”, “Mi Note 10”, “Redmi K30” series , “Poco X2” (including Pro versions) and part of the “Redmi 10” series along with low-cost Poco smartphones (C3 / C31).
The update will be divided into three stages, and the last “wave” of updates will last until the end of 2023, some smartphones will receive a limited version of MIUI 14 based on Android 12, which will lack some of the features and innovations (I will publish the list after verification).
Write what you expect from MIUI 14 and what settings seem most significant to you, and I will keep you updated with all the innovations and updated lists.
