Zach Nelson from the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything did his usual crash test, and this time he was hit by the recently introduced Xiaomi 12S Ultra flagship smartphone with a huge camera and a body stylized as leather.
Xiaomi 12S Ultra withstood almost all tortures with dignity. Its screen was scratched only by a blade of the sixth degree of hardness on the Mohs scale, which is quite a common indicator for modern smartphones. The side frame and body of the camera are made of soft aluminum, so they are easily scratched even from a clerical blade. The same applies to the back cover, covered with polymeric eco-leather – it was not difficult to peel it off.
The fingerprint scanner successfully scanned the finger even through a badly scratched screen. The lighter’s flame left a stain on the screen and it didn’t go away, although smartphones usually recover quickly from such an ordeal. It was not possible to break the case of Xiaomi 12S Ultra by bending it by hand (although the frame still cracked at the location of the antenna), which means that this smartphone is quite durable and is unlikely to bend during everyday use.
