Defending champion Angelique Kerber said goodbye to the Bad Homburg Open grass court tournament after a defeat to France’s Alizé Cornet on Thursday. The German player was beaten 4-6, 6-2, 1-6 in the quarter-final match against Cornet, in one of the last tune-up events before Wimbledon. Kerber had previously clinched seven wins and was unbeaten in the second edition of the tournament.
