As of last year, Xbox Series X|S supports FidelityFX Super Resolution technology. Developed by AMD, this technology is the equivalent of Nvidia’s DLSS. In other words, a feature that allows from an HD source to recreate a 4K image with low resource consumption. Much less greedy than 4K Native, the Fidelity FX is in fact a trick to display 4K without needing the enormous resources that it theoretically requires.

Today, AMD and Microsoft have just announced a new step in their partnership. Microsoft consoles are indeed now compatible with Fidelity FX Super Resolution 2, an evolution of AMD technology. More powerful, more precise, the latter is now accessible to developers via Xbox development kits.

The announcement, made on Twitter, was quickly shared by Jason Ronald. The main architect of the Xbox Series X|S was indeed delighted to continue the partnership initiated with AMD and to offer ever more resources to developers.

Soon, the Fidelity FX 2.0 will already be at the heart of the experience of several titles to come in 2022. Grounded, Deathloop, The Callisto Protocol or even Microsoft Flight Simulator will use this technology.
