AMC is resurrecting two of The Walking Dead’s most iconic characters in an upcoming miniseries.
Fans of The Walking Dead series and/or comics already know that the 11th season will indeed be the last. But while it’s currently airing, we’re already expecting to find some of our favorite characters in side works over the next few years. We think in particular of the series centered on Negan, Maggie or even Daryl. There is, however, another character who has kept a low profile…until now.
Many rumors circulated about a film project around the character of Rick Grimes, camped by actor Andrew Lincoln, who left the main series during the ninth season. Lamented by fans who have followed his adventures for more than 9 years, the survivor will not finally be the star of films, but of a mini-series, which has just been made official at Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend.
If you missed the convention, fear not, AMC has posted all the known details so far on its site. We were therefore treated to a first poster, as well as a rather mysterious synopsis, and some details concerning the casting of this new spin-off series.

Rick and Michonne are back
We learn in passing that in addition to Rick, we should find Michonne, his faithful companion in the series The Walking Dead. This new production should further explore the relationship between the two characters, who will be played by the same actors. Fans will also be pleased to hear that Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira will play a role on the creative team. As for the synopsis, here is what AMC shared with us:
“This series presents the epic love story of two trans characters through a changed world. Separated by distance. By unstoppable power. By the ghosts of what they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find themselves and rediscover who they were in a place and a situation that they have never known before? Are they enemies? Lover ? Victims ? Winners? Without each other, are they even alive – or will they discover that they, too, are undead?”
From 2023
The miniseries will initially consist of 6 episodes, but AMC’s message suggests there will be more in the future. However, this first salvo is expected for 2023 without further details. It is also not known who will be the broadcaster of this spin-off. In the meantime, you can find Tales of the Walking Dead from August 14, as well as the last episodes of the main series from October.
