Descriptions of fraud schemes for the repair of smartphones appeared on the network. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to an interview with Radio Sputnik.

According to the source, several tricks have recently begun to spread, with the help of which service centers or independent smartphone repairmen force the client to pay out of the blue. A journalist from Radio Sputnik interviewed the author of an IT blog and technology expert Nikita Mokeev. He told how Russians are deceived during diagnostics and repairs.

According to Nikita, the biggest chance of “running into” a scammer is a field service. Such a service is usually provided in big cities, and it may seem very convenient: the master comes to your house and repairs the device in front of your eyes. However, there are quite a few scammers in this area. The “master” comes to the client, disassembles the device and issues a “verdict”: 10-30 thousand rubles for repairs. If the client does not want to pay such money, the “master” refuses to collect the device back.

In “stationary” service centers, a similar “divorce” is also found, although somewhat less often: establishments often worry about their reputation. At the same time, the person who brought the device to the masters still often hears obsessive offers to replace expensive parts that do not really require it. Most often, the client trusts the professionalism of the master and agrees not only to purchase such a part, but also to pay for the complex replacement work.

Mokeev gives an example:

“For example, a person is hard of hearing, and he comes to the service with this problem. He is told that he needs to replace the microcircuit and speaker for five to seven thousand rubles. The man agrees and gives the phone. In fact, they fix the problem by cleaning the speaker mesh. They walked with a brush, and that’s all.
