Apple intends to bargain with a newly formed union at its Maryland retail store, Reuters reported.
Apple Inc. will not contest the membership vote of employees at its Towson, Maryland store and intends to participate in good faith in the negotiation process, a person familiar with the company’s plans told Reuters on Friday.

The union’s efforts have reached Apple Stores in New York, Georgia and across the country. A mall in Maryland became the first store to come together last Saturday after a 65-to-33 vote was taken. President Biden praised retail workers on Monday, expressing his pride that workers are exercising their right to organize.
The company has in part thwarted union efforts, arguing that it would be less flexible in improving employee benefits if negotiation was an important factor.
In May, Apple gave retail workers a pay raise that was clearly meant to please those who advocate unionization. Similarly, Apple announced a pay rise a decade ago after a series of articles in the New York Times drew attention to working conditions.
The future organization is expected to cover a dozen Apple Stores across the US as the union movement continues to spread.
