San Diego Comic Con is arguably the most important international event for all things pop culture. It is therefore not surprising that there has been talk of Gotham Knights, through a trailer featuring Batgirl, since the game takes place in the universe of Batman ! Nevertheless, crossing the vigilante in the new title of WB Montreal was not so obvious if we believe what was reported to IGN.
A Batgirl on springs
The teams continue to shower us with their communication around their next action-RPG and offer us a sequence captured in-engine, mixing gameplay and cinematics created specifically for the occasion. We see Batgirl hurtling around on her cracking motorcycle, which will be a pre-order bonus, before she can indulge in all kinds of acrobatics and sequences in fights opposing him to a whole panel of enemies. Unfortunately, we don’t really have any additional elements concerning the game mechanics and we especially hope that this fluidity of action will also be present with the controller in hand. Also, no mention or appearance of other emblematic characters of the license, and for good reason, it seems that many are absent subscribers.
The fewer the fools, the merrier?
Many will be disappointed reading this, but creative director Patrick Redding gave some bleak information regarding Gotham’s star presence… First of all, concerning Batman, we regret to inform you that he dies in the very first moments setting up the framework of the story. And if we could hope that this was a ruse to prepare an epic Deus Ex Machina, nay, since he will remain absent throughout the game… The Joker will also not be part of the cast while a glimmer of hope remains for Harley Quinn since her presence was neither confirmed nor denied when the question was asked. Maybe she’ll make a brief appearance but the developers don’t want to create excessive hype?
We will have all these answers on October 25th.date of publication of Gotham Knights on Xbox Series X|S, PC but also PS5. We’ll see if Gotham has found its new heroes…
