The Sandman will be released on Netflix on August 5th. The film adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s comic book of the same name got a full-fledged trailer, which was shown to visitors at San Diego Comic-Con, and then posted to the public.
According to the plot, the lord of dreams, Morpheus, breaks out of a long imprisonment to find himself on the streets of modern Britain. The hero will have to restore order in the world after spending several decades in captivity. In the video, viewers can see the antagonist Corinthian and other participants in the show.
It is worth noting that the cast came out strong: Tom Sturridge (“Velvet Chainsaw”), Gwendolyn Christie and Charles Dance (“Game of Thrones”), Jenna Coleman (“Doctor Who”), Stephen Fry (“V is for Vendetta”) and David Thewlis (“Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”). In the company of English colleagues, even the American Mark Hamill, who voiced Mervyn Pumpkinhead.
The Sandman was executive produced by Gaiman himself, Allan Heinberg (The Catch) and David S. Goyer (Remember What Will Be). Heinberg became showrunner for the first season. By the way, the latter will have 10 episodes.
