Russian state energy giant Gazprom will lower gas flows through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline to Germany to 20% of capacity this week, fuelling fears about the potential for a total stoppage that could have disastrous effects on Europe’s largest economy. Citing repairs of another turbine, the company said that gas flows through the pipeline that runs below the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany would drop to 33 million cubic metres on Wednesday at 6 am (0400 GMT).
