Apple’s first own store opened in the Tysons Corner shopping center outside Washington DC in 2001. Now you can visit it as it was when it opened – virtually, in a 3d simulation developed by Michael Steeber.

Apple Store Time Machine is called the simulation, which has been released as a free Mac program for both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. The program features four famous Apple stores from different eras:

  • Tyson’s Corner (2001)
  • Stanford Shopping Center (2004)
  • Fifth Avenue (2006)
  • Infinite Loop (2015)

Each store is decorated as it was when it opened including products on display, posters on the walls and other details. Michael Steeber has recreated even small details such as lists of specifications on individual Macs.
