MultiVersus is a free-to-play game so obviously the question of gold coins is essential when you want to unlock new characters for example. So we have prepared this little article for you to explain how to earn coins and how to optimize your farm.
How to earn gold coins in MultiVersus?
You’ll notice that this article doesn’t mention custom, local, or lobbies, which is to be expected since none of the three give coins, xp, or count toward battle pass mission objectives.
The initial missions
Before you can start doing the Battle Pass missions, you have a series of fixed quests to complete. Their particularity is that they bring gold coins where the other missions that will follow will only give pass points.
These assignments are:
- Participate in your first match (200 coins)
- Check parameters (100 pieces)
- Accept a team or 1 v 1 rematch (100 coins)
- Toast another player (100 coins)
- Play 5 matches (800 coins)
- Equip a new profile icon from your profile page (100 coins)
- Equip a new Ejection from your collection page (100 coins)
This can only be done once, but those 1,500 gold coins will be more than useful to buy your first character. Note that doing the advanced workouts gives absolutely nothing.
Party rewards
Inevitably, each game allows you to win a few coins. This varies from one type to another but on the other hand the fact of facing humans or bots does not change absolutely anything.
Matches 1 on 1:
- each round played: 6 coins
- each round won: 6 coins
Matches 2 vs 2:
- each round played: 7 coins
- each round won: 8 coins
Every man for himself matches:
- each match played: 7 coins
- each match won: 8 coins
The group bonus
When you are in a group with one of your contacts, you are entitled to a group bonus. It allows you to see your coin gains increase by 30% per round. This therefore makes 2 additional coins per round lost and 4 per round won. The game text also promises extra xp but no evidence of this on the end screen.
The first victory of the day
Every day, the first round won gives you a bonus of 100 gold coins. Again, the game text is incorrect as it promises 200 coins but in fact, regardless of the configuration, the bonus will always pay out 100.
Gain account levels
The experience points earned during matches are used to level up the characters you have used, but each point also goes into the level of your account. And each level up allows you to earn 100 gold coins.
Receive toast
Toasts are a way to reward an ally or opponent that you deem particularly deserving. When the game ends (because it’s the end of the best of 3 or someone refused the rematch) you can give a toast to the participants of your choice. We talk about it here since receiving a toast comes with a bonus of 20 gold coins.
As far as your opponents are concerned, your allocation conditions are up to you (give to all, give to those who have played well, only return the toasts,…), but as far as your allies are concerned, we advise you to always play the game and systematically reward you with each game. And since the toasts are relatively rare, you might as well not waste them on the bots.
Level 5 characters
Passing a level 5 character allows you to earn 100 coins so do not hesitate to do at least that on all your fighters even if you do not necessarily like their gameplay. And besides, don’t forget that you keep the rewards of the characters from the free rotation even if you don’t unlock them afterwards, so you might as well take advantage of it by also varying your farm a little with different characters.
The battle pass
A few gold coins can also be found among the rewards of the battle pass. So even if the daily missions do not directly earn coins, doing them can still get you closer to a level that will give you coins.
How to effectively farm gold coins?
You will have understood this by looking at all the previous methods, the most effective way to earn gold coins is therefore to devote yourself to matches in 2 against 2 by having grouped with a contact. Which is logical since it will allow you to have the additional pieces of the 2 against 2, the group bonus and to increase your chances of having toast.
Well, this assumes that you win quite often against your opponents and that they give you toast from time to time. If you really always lose and you never receive toast, you can eventually switch to bots since they pay exactly as much in each round (won as lost).
Instead of doing a very long farming session, we recommend that you spread it out over the week to get the first daily victory bonuses, and do the battle pass quests to increase your level. All while ensuring that all the characters you currently have access to are all at least level 5.
Here, as you can see, it will be quite long to obtain the complete roster but not infeasible. In the meantime, you can consult our guide dedicated to MultiVersuswith in particular the means to spend your coins on how to unlock the characters or our file on the assets.
