To further fuel the anticipation of waiting fans for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”, Prime Video recently released the official SDCC trailer for the upcoming fantasy series.
With “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is currently no less than the most expensive series production of all time in the works. In the meantime, the marketing machinery for the upcoming fantasy epic is also gaining momentum and those responsible published a new trailer at the San Diego Comic-Con 2022.
New The Rings of Power trailer unleashes the Balrog
The SDCC trailer comes up with the darkest scenes we have seen from the major project. Not surprising, after all, the world of Middle-earth is about to undergo a serious change: After a long period of peace, evil is now rising again in the universe once created by JRR Tolkien. In addition, Sauron is a well-known name and a Balrog can also be seen.
But the return of the great “Lord of the Rings” villain, whom we know from the Peter Jackson-directed film trilogy, among others, is just a looming threat for our heroes to contend with. An asteroid falling to earth is currently a mystery to many fans of the series, but this special event is unlikely to bode well for the main characters around a young Galadriel.
Patrick McKay and JD Payne (both “Star Trek: Beyond”) are responsible for the first season of “The Rings of Power” as showrunners. The first two episodes are directed by Juan Antonio Bayona (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”). The screenwriters include Jason Cahill (“The Sopranos”) and Gennifer Hutchison (“Breaking Bad”).

By the way, there was bad news today for gaming fans who want to immerse themselves in the world of Middle-earth again. The upcoming action-adventure The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has been indefinitely postponed. According to their own statements, the developers need “several months longer” to fine-tune the title.
“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” starts on September 2, 2022 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
